Toyota camry Bolt Pattern

One of the simplest ways to give your Camry a new look and personality is by choosing new alloy wheels.

Now, the catch is, finding the right wheels takes a bit more effort than simply swapping them out, especially with different wheel sizes out there.

One of the most crucial aspects to consider is the pattern of the bolt used. If you get that wrong, there’s a decent chance the wheels will neither fit properly nor hitch safely to your car.

In this short guide, I’ll explain the Camry bolt pattern, why you should care about it, and how you can check it yourself. That way, you’ll have everything you need to ensure your new wheels fit just right.

Camry Bolt Pattern Specification

The good news is that the bolt pattern on the Toyota Camry has stayed the same across all generations. The Carmy Bolt pattern is 5×4.5 inches or 5×114.3 millimeters for ALL MODEL YEARS.

What is Bolt Pattern

The bolt pattern, or bolt circle, is the diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs. It is one of the most important measurements you should take when ordering new wheels to determine whether they will fit your car properly.

The bolt pattern is typically described with two numbers. For example, it’s 5×114.3 millimeters on a Toyota Camry.

The first number tells you the number of bolt holes in the wheel — 5, in the case of the Camry. This tells us the wheel has 5 lugs for the lug nuts.

These bolt holes are placed around the center of the wheel in a circle. The second number in bolt pattern specs is the diameter of a circle whose circumferential boundary passes through the center of all of the bolts. On the Camry, this would be 4.5 inches or 114.3 millimeters.

So, briefly, if a bolt pattern is 5×114.3, it means there are 5 bolt holes, which form a circle with a diameter of 114.3 millimeters (or 4.5 inches).

Measuring a 5-bolt pattern is a bit different than a 4-bolt pattern. To measure a 5-lug wheel, you would measure from the outside edge of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole directly across from it (same goes with the 4-lug), as demonstrated by the photo below.

And if you want to further understand how bolt patterns are measured, take a look at this video. It shows the steps visually, which is a lot easier to follow and comprehend.

Besides the 5×114. 3 bolt pattern, but there are a number of other configurations floating around out there — 5×115, 5×112, and so forth.

On the face of it, the difference might look small — mere millimeters. But with wheels, those few millimeters make a lot of difference.

Take the 5×114. 3mm wheels and 5×114 mm, for example. It’s less than 1 millimeter — almost nothing, right? But when it comes to the world of wheels, even the tiniest bit — we’re talking just a fraction of a millimeter — can be the difference between performance success and failure.

Some Instances of 5×114. 3 mm wheel on a vehicle with 5 X 115 mm mounting bolt pattern. It may even seem to fit perfectly from the outside. But the fact is — it doesn’t. The lug studs will not be centered directly in the wheel’s bolt holes.

If you tighten the lug nuts in this position, the studs can bend because they are not actually seated properly. This causes the wheel to become off-balance and can result in a vibration while driving; in more severe cases, it can start to eat into the wheel or the studs.

That’s why it’s so important to double-check the measurement and match the exact bolt pattern for your Camry.

Why It’s Important

The truth is, there’s really not much you need to know about the bolt pattern unless you’re looking to upgrade your Camry’s rims.

But if you’re in the market to upgrade your wheels, you only want to be thinking about that bolt pattern. If you want to ensure the new wheels fit correctly and will not create a hazardous driving condition, you need to look for a wheel that has the same bolt pattern as your Camry.

Thankfully, when you buy new wheels from a shop, they’re already pretty privy to what the correct bolt pattern for your Camry already is, and you won’t have to think about it too hard anyway.

It’s a different story, however, if you’re buying wheels online or scooping up a used set from a friend. In such cases, it’s crucial to know the bolt pattern of both your Camry and the wheels, so they’re a good fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Wider wheels with a different bolt pattern will not fit correctly, and can adversely affect handling and safety. Make sure that you always use the proper bolt pattern for your Camry.

You sure can! Wheel adapters allow you to adapt your vehicle’s bolt pattern to a completely different bolt pattern, in order to put a set of wheels on your vehicle that otherwise wouldn’t fit. And yet, the wisest course of action would be to adhere to wheels that have the right bolt pattern for your Camry for proper fitment and safety.

Technically, yes — though you’ll have to make fairly substantial modifications to your vehicle’s hubs. It’s not a straightforward swap and is often not a great idea because of the expense, complexity and effect on handling and safety.
